Mālama Waikoloa Nightingales is dedicated to keeping feral donkeys off Waikoloa Road. We will not stop until we know that as many donkeys as possible have been fenced off the Road. We are concerned about the safety of both people and donkeys. We strongly support humane management of the donkey Waikoloa donkey herds; re-homing and fertility control are essential to long-term success. We have learned that humane management of the entire herd is the only thing that will meet our objectives.

On our Island of Hawai'i, donkeys came to be known as "nightingales" because of their loud braying at sunrise and sunset.

In Hawaiian "mālama" means to care for something, to nurture it for the long term good.
